Castle Grauwald, Bavaria, autumn 1943.

You are a commando with a pistol, a knife and three lives, locked in a castle full of soldiers who would very much like you to stay there. Get out. Don't stop for anything.

WolfenSlop is a gritty, ground-up remake of the 1992 grid shooter: the same floor plans, doors, push-wall secrets and enemy rules — but every texture, sprite, voice, sound effect and piece of music is new, and the look is grim and photoreal instead of 16 colours of cartoon.

What's in this build

  • 5 episodes, 50 floors. Episode 1 "Breakout" uses the classic floor plans. Episodes 2–5 (Dark Experiments, The Iron Bunker, Hidden Ward, Long Night) are new maps, each with a boss on floor 9 and a secret level.
  • Classic rules, faithful AI. Guards, dogs, SS and officers stand, patrol, hear gunshots through open doors, ambush, chase and flinch the way they should. Four difficulties.
  • Knife, pistol, MP40, chaingun. Hitscan with the original damage and miss rules.
  • Headshots count. Double damage, a red X hit marker, a helmet ping and the helmet flying off. Every hit bleeds; kills paint the wall behind them.
  • German voice cast. Seven distinct soldier voices shout, investigate noises, scream and die in German.
  • Real MP40 sound on the SS, a 3-round burst at real cadence.
  • New soundtrack: 33 tracks inspired by the original Episode music.
  • Episode briefings and debriefings, intermission with kill / secret / treasure ratios and par time, full map (TAB), minimap.
  • Gamepad support (Xbox layout; PlayStation and Switch pads work too).

Controls

  • Move / strafe: W A S D (arrows turn) · Look: mouse · Run: Shift
  • Fire: left mouse / Ctrl · Use (doors, secrets, elevator): E / Space
  • Weapons: 1–4 or mouse wheel · Map: TAB · Pause: Esc
  • Hold M + L + I if you know, you know.

Platforms

Windows and Linux downloads (64-bit), or play in the browser. The browser version is about 200 MB and needs a desktop browser with WebGL 2; level music streams in a few seconds after the menu. For the best look and performance, grab the download — the browser version runs on the simpler Compatibility renderer.

How it's made

Built in Godot 4.7. Art made with Qwen-Image (sprites and walls) and WAN 2.2 (walk cycles) in a local ComfyUI pipeline; voices with ElevenLabs; sound effects with Stable Audio; music with Stable Audio 3.

A fan remake. Episode 1 level layouts are from id Software's Wolfenstein 3D (1992). Not affiliated with or endorsed by id Software, Bethesda or ZeniMax.
